Cross River Governorship 2023: Obubra LG Endorses Sandy Onor, Assures Of Him Total Victory

Cross River Governorship 2023: Obubra Have Endorsed You, It Will Be A Confirmation On The Day of Election — Okpechi FG Assures Sandy Onor

Obubra Caucus, Leaders, Critical stakeholders and party faithfuls of the PDP in Obubra Local Government Area led by the Chapter Chairman, Chief Godwin Igwe assures Sen. Prof. Sandy Ojang Onor of victory in the forthcoming 2023 governorship elections.

The Chairman, Chief Godwin Igwe expressed his confidence that Obubra LGA will produce 100% votes and when added with votes from other LGAs in Cross River State will give Sen. Sandy Onor and the PDP victory at the polls. He reiterated that Sen. Sandy Onor’s second home is Obubra: the reason Obubra people have come to congratulate him formally as Gubernatorial candidate of our great party, the PDP. He said Obubra “has come to tell you: well done for your doggedness, sincerity and commitment. We are your own and part of you. So we want to be an integral part of this project.” He reflected, soberly, on the significance of 8th September in the political history of Obubra and called for a minute silence in honour of late Chief John Oyom Okpa, who died on September 8th, and late Dr Romanus Eriom who died a day ago.

Critical Stakeholders in the meeting took turns to testify the good deeds and leadership acumen of Distinguished Senator Prof. Sandy Ojang Onor KSG.

His Excellency, Ambassador Pastor Dr. Walter Ajogbor MNI JP re-echoed Sen. Sandy Onor’s formative years in Obubra which makes him an Obubra son. As one of us, Obubra believes very strongly in his leadership and is determined to stand tall to work for his victory. According to Pastor Dr Walter Ajogbor, the election is a mere formality as Sen. Sandy Onor is already the Governor. This is because ” … from the beginning there was clarity of your vision and your mission: You left no one in doubt that you have a mission; You will be governor because you’re a man that believes in your roots; a man of purpose and mission and consumed by that purpose with audacity to speak truth to power; a man of temerity and tenacity of purpose.”

Dr. Pastor Ajogbor lamented that Obubra in it’s 120 years of existence has not seen any development commensurate with its status. He appealed to Sen. Sandy Onor to consider Obubra people for Federal appointments too. He assured the governorship candidate that Obubra is PDP and we shall galvanise the energy and the people of Obubra for PDP to win all elections.

Also speaking, the former executive Chairman of Obubra LGC, Hon. Nicholas Ayuwa said Sen Sandy Onor’s victory is the victory for meritocracy. He extolled the sterling qualities of compassion and forgiveness of Sen. Sandy Onor which makes him a good leader and the best candidate for Governor. He assured the governorship candidate that Obubra has started opening up discussions with our brothers from other parties and that, “… This party structure led by your Igwe of Africa and these distinguished leaders will ensure that you win in every polling unit and ward, thereby giving you total victory in Obubra.” He appealed that Sen. Sandy Onor should bring Obubra people on board his economic team. The leadership presented gifts of a portrait of Sen. Sandy Onor, a life cow and campaign materials to the gubernatorial candidate.

Responding, the PDP governorship candidate and Senator representing the Cross River Central Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Prof. Sandy Ojang Onor KSG said he was humbled by the show of love from Obubra which is the first LGA that has shown this level of commitment to come and engage him with value. According to him, “The gift of a cow is very significant and the beautiful painting gladdens my heart. I am proud and happy to keep it in the campaign office so people can see that it’s from my Obubra brothers.” Sen. Onor said that nobody in the race for governorship in Cross River State will be more interested than him in the development of Obubra. He said this is a reality because he has always been grateful to Obubra for moulding him morally socially and intellectually.

Sen. Sandy Onor said, however, that since the demise of late Chief John Oyom Okpa, Obubra has had a leadership vacuum. Thus, he said, “I challenge you to allow leadership thrive in Obubra. You must mould a leadership in Obubra because I see disunity. You must be happy with whoever the lot falls on to lead you because what will count will be capacity, balance and commitment. I want Obubra together.” Sen. Onor promised he would not disappoint the Obubra people and will leave a legacy in Obubra. He ended on a philosophical note that, “Power is transient, life is short. What makes you different from an animal is the fact that you have integrity, is the fact that you left a legacy, is the fact that you are an example and there was change. We have a big opportunity together as a party to win. Let us all work together.”

The Member representing Obubra 1 State Constituency and PDP candidate for Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency seat, Rt. Hon. Okpechi Friday Gabriel in a powerful vote of thanks appreciated Sen. Sandy Onor for his promise to always have a roundtable meeting with leaders of Obubra even when he becomes Governor to thinker on ways to advance Obubra LGA. Rt. Hon. Okpechi added that Obubra has the capacity to hold any office even at the federal level and hoped that now our brother holds the highest office in the state as governor, other positions of great value should come to Obubra. He declared that, “Obubra is United in Project Sandy. The painting is a strong message to the whole world that Obubra has endorsed you totally for Governor of Cross River State. On the day of elections, it will just be a confirmation.” He also thanked the leadership of Obubra who have decided to do things differently. He said Obubra has started well because this is the first time ever the leadership is having such a meeting with a candidate before he becomes Governor. He assured them that Sen. Sandy Onor will fix Obubra not in words but in actions.
